AFTER more than 30 years in the kitchen, Glen Waverley resident Krishna Arora still enjoys the smiles on people's faces when they take that first bite of her food.
Mrs Arora, an executive member of the Indian Senior Citizens Association, will share her cooking skills with residents at the Flavours of Oakleigh festival this month.
Italian, Mexican, Tamil, Chinese, South Sudanese and Indonesian recipes will also be demonstrated at the Flavours of Monash stage.
Mrs Arora has taught some of the best chefs in India and founded two gourmet colleges in New Delhi and Chennai.
At the Oakleigh festival, she said she would demonstrate how to make traditional Indian curries.
Mrs Arora said she enjoyed experimenting with ingredients.
Her favourite curry ingredients are potatoes and the Chinese cabbage bok choy.
"I like bok choy because it gets a very different flavour coming out of the leaf and with my mixture of curry it's very nice. You couldn't get bok choy in India."
Musical acts at the festival include Australian soul singer Renee Geyer, soul and funk party band Pablo Discobar and Electric Empire.
The festival is at Warrawee Park, Atherton Road, Oakleigh, from noon-6pm on March 21.
